Should your Windows app shortcut stop working after installing an app update, you can normally fix this in one of three ways:
1) Shut down the Forms On Fire app running in the background.
Navigate to the bottom-right corner of your Task Bar and click on the up carat/arrow to reveal the System Icon Tray.
Click on the carat/arrow to "Show Hidden Icons" | Right-click on the "Forms On Fire icon" | Once you right-click, you may then click "Exit" | Reopen the "Hidden Icons" to ensure Forms On Fire successfully shut down. |
Use your Forms On Fire shortcut to relaunch the app.
OR
2) Edit your existing app shortcut to fix the broken link.
Due to certain Windows configurations, sometimes the existing app shortcut is not properly updated to point at the correct app executable location. You can fix this by following these steps:
Right-click on the shortcut and click “Properties”
In the box labeled “Target”, look for the text “_ExecutionStub” and remove it. | Click the Apply, then the OK button, which will close the dialog window. |
Your shortcut should now be working again :)
OR
3) Uninstall your current version, then download and reinstall the latest version.
You can find the latest app download link on the Dashboard page of our web portal or the bottom of our website.
NOTE: This approach will permanently delete any in-progress Form entries and saved data on your device.
