Required fields option to only be required before upload

Required fields are very helpful to prevent a user moving to the next page until they have entered some data. However sometimes users need to jump ahead a few pages to enter data in a different order, and the workaround is they need to put dummy data in the required fields to be able to move on from the page. It would be very useful to have a setting to make required fields required before uploading the form, but not required to move between pages. That way there is still a quality check that all fields have been completed, but it doesn't prevent users being flexible with the order they complete the form.

  • Hi Geoff,

    You can do this!

Simply click the Page field at the top of the form and then go to the Validation & Behavior section near the bottom-right.

    You have 3 options:

Inline - Validates field by field

Page Change - Validates when the user attempts to go to the next page

End of Form - Validates when the user attempts to submit the form. Using this option will give the user a list of all required fields that need to be answered. They can tap each one to be automatically taken to that field.

    Hope this helps!

  • That's excellent, thank you!

  • This is great! I also just figured out that the validation options (inline, page, or end of form) are available for repeating tables. So if you have required fields inside a table, but want the user to be able to navigate out of the table temporarily, click on the table header, then select "end of form."

    Thanks, Forms on Fire!
